Sitting on the floor under a stone staircase, Taze had found an efficient place to sit and wait out the rest of the day. He had already had an unpleasant run in with that crazy Defense Professor and he wasn't about to go to class after all that. So he was sitting under the stairs, waving his wand and watching the colors spray out of the tip. He practiced writing letters with his wands and making them hover in the air, or changing the color of the Lumos charm so that it glowed green or yellow. Anything to entertain himself while he hid from any professor that might want to drag him to yet another detention. Finally, his watch alerted him that the day was over and it would be safe to wander the castle again. Slowly, he ducked out from under the stairs and entered the mostly empty corridor.

The day was done and Raven was heading back to her dorms. She wanted to get a head start on the homework that way she could focus on Quidditch practice. She had much on her plate at that moment but that was how things usually were for the Slytherin. She had an image to maintain.  Sure an image only meant so much in the long run but she needed it. She turned down a nearly empty corridor. Here mind was on other things otherwise she would have noticed the Gryffindor that was in front of her. A quick hiss in her ear made her more aware of her surroundings. She quickly moved out of the way before running into the other student. Her companion started to scold her. Students could have pets, usually an owl, cat, or toad. Raven had a snake. A rat snake named onyx. She named him such because his scales were black and shined like the stone. Sometimes she wasn't very creative. She needed Onyx that day for transfiguration lessons. Though that didn't stop the snake from traveling with the girl just about everywhere. He usually hid in her robes along her neck, hidden out of sight. She quite enjoyed having him around. It was someone to talk to, or well listen to when she was borned in class.

"Watch where you're going" Her voice was dry. She wasn't scolding but she was also not being overly polite. The best thing to consider her tone would be Slytherin, a name she was proud of.

Taze flinched when he heard the voice, shit she was a prefect. Hopefully she wouldn't ask why he had been hiding under the stairs. That was seriously the last thing he needed right now. He already had detention that seemed like it might last well into next year, he didn't need any added sentence from an unruly Slytherin girl. Of course, his southern sensibility wouldn't let him get snapped at without snapping back either, "How 'bout you watch where you're goin' instead?" He said, his voice indicating the twang of an American cowboy.

Raven wanted more than anything to snap back at the smart reply given by the boy. But that was the Gryffindor thing to do. Instead Raven analyzed the situation. He was bigger than her and she wasn't completely sure his year level, though she figured he was a year above her. Yelling would get them no where and she really wanted to go work. But she couldn't just shrug this off either. No, she needed to have the upper hand. It was what she was good at. She looked past him wondering why she didn't see him when entering the corridor at first. The stairs. She didn't hear anything and by his defensive attitude she wondered if he was up to no good. Onyx gave another his at the girl before popping his head from around the girl's neck. He was getting a good scent of the Gryffindor. 

"Oh really. If I recall correctly I was the one who had to move out of the way. In retrospect that would mean I was paying attention. Thus leaving you the one not being careful or is it more along the lines of you being distracted. Maybe looking over your shoulder trying not to get caught" Her voice was calm, even almost void of emotion. She was taking a huge gamble with saying he was up to something. However she couldn't help but smile slightly. She wasn't going to loose.

Glaring at her like she was crazy, Taze rolled his eyes and shook his head, "What exactly would I be worried about It's not like it's against any rules to be in the hallway." Damn, why did he say that? What if she knew he was full of shit. He just had to sit tight and pray she wouldn't call him out on it.

He looked down the hallway wishing he could just walk away and it not seem weird, "So...can I go?" He said awkwardly, almost regretting even asking because that just seemed weird.

She didn't know why this boy irritated her so much. Was it the accent or how he carried himself. Just something really annoyed her. Maybe she was just looking for a fight. Very unlikely though. Not against the rules. She mulled over what he had said in her mind for a second. She really didn't have anything to pin him on. If she did she would gladly give him detention or report him to some professor. She still didn't have much and was about to just continue walking down the hall after giving a sharp warning however he spoke again. This time she wasn't about to be smart with him. No Raven decided to go full on sarcastic. She didn't do so often but there were just those times when someone just irritate her enough. It's not like he said anything wrong. If anything it was weird. Granted it put her in a position of power but she wasn't happy about it. 

"What do I look like, your bloody professor? And what if I say no. What then?" Raven's voice showed a slight irritation behind the sarcasm. She started to tap her foot slightly, growing more annoyed. She wasn't sure why she didn't just walk away either.

Taze glared at her, not even caring in the moment if he talked himself into a hole, "Hey, I was just tryin' to make sure you were done bitchin' at me before I took off." He said aggressively, shaking his head, "I thought just walkin' away would be rude. Excuse me for bein' a gentleman." Taze ran his fingers through his hair making a few clumps stand up at odd angles. Somehow, he still looked attractive, even with his hair in a huge mess on top of his head.

To be honest she wished he had just walked away. He was the one who dug himself into the hole to begin with. Now he was snapping at her and it was really making her blood boil. She didn't show it though. No she had to stay calm, cool. She was still trying to figure out why he irritated her. She just couldn't figure it out. 

"Go on, keep digging your hole. Lets see how fare you're going to go" Raven's wasn't about to loose her temper, not in front of someone like Taze. She wasn't about to back off though. His comments really did hit a chord. He wasn't doing a very good job in her eyes of being a gentlemen. Perhaps they had two different views about such things. If only his words were slightly as charming as his looks. It would give him a tad bit more appeal.

Rolling his eyes, Taze shook his head and sighed, "Hey, you're the boss." He grumbled, crossed his arms over his chest and scowling at her, "I gotta go. Detention and all." He waved and turned to walk away, not bothering to say goodbye this time.

Never did she think that she would be so happy to see the back of someones head as she was now. Finally he decided to leave. Her the boss, really. Sure she was a Prefect but that didn't give her full power. She couldn't wait till her final year. She was aiming to be Head Girl and knew if she kept up the Prefect streak then she was bound to get it. 

"Figures" Raven stated coldly under her breath. Of course he was going to detention. She did wonder what for but the thought left as soon as it had arrived. She was just glad to see him go and knowing that he was in fact heading to serve detention with some professor made her very happy.
