BEYOND THE LOOKING GLASS
LIKES | CHOCOLATE FROGS. I mean seriously, who doesn't absolutely LOVE chocolate just in general? Especially with the added bonus of having to beat that thing into submission first. It's so fun! SPORTS. Just in general. Especially quidditch, but that might just be because the muggle people can't play it or something. Or because it's the only sport Hogwarts has. Either way, Seeking is fun. ANIMALS. Because who doesn't love a cuddly Blasted Ended Skrewt? MUGGLE MOVIES. I could sit around for hours and watch them and, trust me when I say, I definitely have. Especially those cheesy romantic comedies that you can tell what is going to happen before you even reach the end. Those are great. DANCING. Because music is amazing and why not cut a rug when you get a chance? SUPER OLD DISNEY MOVIES. The music and the synchronized numbers just make them so much fun! And they have that cheesy romance I am a big fan of so it's even better. LAZY DAYS. I would rather sit around and do whatever I want than do what I NEED to do any day. Why would I do homework when I can throw a ball against a blank wall and watch it bounce back instead? THE BIG CITY. Going to London is like one of the biggest rewards ever. Since Briella grew up in the Scottish countryside, seeing huge cities is like an amazing treat. GOSSIP. It's hard not to get excited when you hear the Quidditch star in Slytherin is banging the Gryffindor fourth year. It's so fun to spread the dirt. LIVING ON THE EDGE. What's life without a little risk? I like to find secret passages and run to Hogsmeade during class, or hide out at the Quidditch pitch and pretend I am not breaking any rules. It's thrilling! |
DISLIKES | SPICY FOODS. I don't really mind how they taste, but that face I get where it's all puckered makes me feel really weird. BEING BY MYSELF. Sitting around without someone to talk to is worse than water boarding. PLEASE, Stay and hang out. FEELING RESTLESS. I know I don't like to be productive, but that doesn't mean I like to sit around and stare at the paintings in the common room either. QUIETNESS. Okay, so I get that classrooms are supposed to be quiet, and the library, and places like that. But wouldn't they be better with a little background music? Even elevator music would make it less depressing! FLAKES. I really hate when people flake out on others. If you say you are going to do something, FRIKKIN DO IT! It's seriously not that hard and, in the end, people will like you better anyway. RAP MUSIC. Somehow, through the last 200 years since it became really big, Rap music is still around. And honestly, it still sucks. There are maybe three rap songs I like and it's not because they are any good. It's because they come will those dances that every does together at the Yule Ball or Winter Formal. Beyond that, rap music is awful. PAIN. I know how much of a bitch this is going to make me sound, but I hate pain. And needles. And basically anything that is different from the normal feeling you have when you aren't hurting anywhere. BEING A CHARITY CASE. On the rare occasion that I am sick or hurt for some reason, I hate that feeling where everyone dotes on you and brings you chocolate frogs and such. Now, I will take the candy, but I'll make damn sure everyone knows how much I don't like that they spent good money on little old me before I do. THE ELECTRONICS ISSUE. I just I could have my iPod. If I could carry my music with me, I wouldn't mind everything else being banned at school. Darn Hogwarts and it's influx of magical stuff... LOSING. I may not seem it, but I am a super competitive person and I really, really, REALLY, hate to lose. |
BEST SUBJECT | CARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES. I really love animals and learning how to take care of them. If flying was a class you took every year, I'd kick ass but since it's not, this is my favorite subject. |
WORST SUBJECT | TRANSFIGURATION AND POTIONS. I call this a tie because damn. It's so complicated and anything that has dead animal parts as an ingredient or makes me turn an animal into a cup is way too creepy for me to like. |
STRENGTHS | OUTGOING. If you need someone to go talk to the random guy at the Three Broomsticks, or ask for directions, I am your girl. SPORTS. I love athletics just in general. I practice like a play and give 100% every time. BEING A FRIEND. I hate to toot my own horn a little here, but I am an awesome friend. I am always there to help people, even if I don't know them super well. I would give my last knut to buy a hungry person a meal. LOYAL. I will never betray someone's trust if I can avoid it. And I will go to the ends of the Earth to try and avoid it. PASSIONATE. Stuff that I like and actually feel passionately about, I rock at. But anything else is like....meh.... |
WEAKNESSES | LYING. I am a TERRIBLE liar. I get all sweaty and shaky and even do the whole shift eye thing. You can tell, even without those tells, because my speech is so different from normal when I am lying. I get all, stuttery and awkward. SCHOOL WORK. It's not that I am a bad student, I just don't like any class that isn't Care of Magical Creatures. Ya know? And I will avoid doing any work for those classes. GETTING THINGS DONE ON TIME. My mom always said Procrastinator should be my middle name because putting things off to the last minute is a seriously well developed skill of mine. REMEMBERING THINGS. You know how a ton of people say they aren't good with names? I'm like that, except with basically everything. I have some crazy thing where I only remember useless information. So trivia night in the lounge? Count me in! Memorizing the year of the imp wars, or Goblin Rebellions, or whatever they are called, and you should go find someone else because I can't even remember the name of those things. FRIENDS. I only call friends and family a weakness because I would seriously risk anything to protect them. And it's not like we are in a war or anything, but if we were, I would probably end up dead fast since i wouldn't want anyone else to die if I could do something about it. |
HOBBIES | WANDERING. I know how weird that sounds, but if there is nothing else to do, I love to explore the castle and meet new people. QUIDDITCH. Playing sports is awesome, and since quidditch is the only Hogwarts sport offered, I am pretty into that in my free time. CARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES STUFF. If I could, I would spend all my time hanging out in the pavillion and learning about animals and their various uses in a domesticated world. It's just so awesome. |
PET PEEVES | FLAKING. When people say they are going to do something, and they back out at the last minute or something, it is SO ANNOYING. GOODY TWO SHOES. So obviously I'm not Prefect material. And power to those who think they are. But seriously, back off. You're not my mom. |
PERSONALITY | Briella is not a very complicated person. She is nice, and kind to pretty much everyone she meets. She respects other people and likes to make them laugh if she can, although making people laugh usually comes at her expense. She is clumsy and gauche until she is on a broom and often declared that there are invisible little things running around the castle that help her trip and spill things all over the place. Of course, there isn’t. But it makes people laugh when she says that there are so she sticks with it. It is really hard to make Briella mad, but it is possible, even if her fellow Housemates will tell you it’s not. If she thinks you are a liar or you are non-committal with your promises, she will lose respect for and you the more she catches you in a lie, the more she will dislike you. Briella isn’t the kind of person who would act on her anger towards you, but she will straight up ignore you when you talk to her or tell you off when you ask for help. Another strange thing about Briella, is that although she will be annoyed that you asked for help when she doesn’t like you, she also can’t stand to see someone struggle if they don’t have to. She will often times help you anyway while vocally telling you how much she resents helping you. That’s something you will just have to suck up because she isn’t going to change that any time soon. When Briella finds something she is passionate about, she will put all of her effort into being awesome at it. No, she doesn’t need to be the best, because that’s unreasonable and unlikely, but being really, really good is completely within reach and not at all crazy to try and strive for. Some of her passion for striving to be really, really good might come from the fact that she hates to be idle. She has a ton of energy and sitting around ad doing nothing is not a great way to spend all that pent up hyperactivity she tends to be stuck with. Because of this, she is a huge thrill seeker. She likes to live on the edge, breaking rules she knows won’t get her into TOO much trouble. Briella has probably spent more time in detention than she has in classes at Hogwarts, which is equally impressive and kind of sad. |
THE HOUSE THAT BUILT ME
MOTHER | JANET ELYSE BRITTANY-WHITE - 38 - MUGGLE SCHOOL TEACHER - "My mom and I have always had an awesome relationship. We make each other laugh and can get through anything. I think this comes from always being completely honest with each other, and maybe a little bit because I don't actually live with her on a regular basis. Who knows, but she is the best." |
FATHER | LIONEL KILLIAN BRITTANY - 40 - DEPARTMENT FOR THE MISUSE OF MUGGLE ARTIFACTS - "When I go home for the summer, I always got ot stay with my dad. This wasn't something I decided more than the courts thought it would be better for a wizarding youth to grow up with their wizarding parents. I wish I had a say in it. I mean I love my dad, but I feel like since my mom left, he has never quite been the same. Especially since I have her hair and eyes. He looks at me with a sad face everytime I see him." |
SIBLINGS | BRISTOL SHAE BRITTANY - 16 - HOGWARTS STUDENT - OLDER SISTER - "Bristol is awesome. She is way smarter than me and tends to be a mother to me when we aren't staying with our real mom and her new muggle husband." BOWEN GREGORY BRITTANY - 15 - HOGWARTS STUDENT - TWIN BROTHER - "Bowen is my twin brother and he is so awesome! We have the best brother sister relationship out there!" |
OTHER | ADAM XANDER WHITE - 39 - MUGGLE SCHOOL TEACHER - STEP-FATHER - "Honestly, I don't hardly know him. I saw him at the wedding last month and then I haven't run into him again..." |
SOMEBODY THAT I USED TO KNOW
HISTORY | When Briella and Bowen were born, they were one big, happy family. They never did know if it was the burden of having three magical children, or if they just never did work in the first place, but when Briella and Bowen were three, their parents got a divorce. Going before a muggle/wizarding court had been tricky, especially since they still haven’t quite worked out the legal system between the two yet, but they finally agreed that wizarding children belonged with their wizarding parents, and the three kids were placed with their father. Now Bowen didn’t like this one little bit. He had been arguing that they should go with their mom to London since the day the custody battle started. Briella and her older sister, Bristol, just rode the wave on that one, but Briella would be lying if she said that she wasn’t just a little disappointed that they would remain in the Scottish Highlands, far away from any real civilization, as opposed to moving to the bustling urban area of Southern England. No matter how it turned out, though, Briella and her siblings didn’t see much of their mother growing up. Those few times they were together, they always had a blast. Their mom let them do whatever they wanted to and they never got in trouble when they were with her, which put visiting her near the top of pretty much all of their summer to-do lists. But then Bristol started school, and being away from both parents for nearly the entire year put a toll on her relationship with both parents. And soon, Briella and Bowen started school as well, and visiting their mother for the whole summer became nothing but an old memory of younger years. Now, every summer, they start at their father’s house in Scotland and spend one week in London with their mother towards the end of the summer when they need to go shopping for books and other school supplies in Diagon Alley. Last month, during the short spring break the students get from Hogwarts, Briella’s mother announced that she was going to marry another man. The kids were flown to London for the speedy occasion and learned they their mother was pregnant with a little boy or girl. |

OTHER ITEMS? | Briella does have her own broom. It's not the best broom on the block, but it is better than those crappy ones the school provides so there's that. Otherwise, she doesn't bring too much to school with her. |
