Without the mask where will you hide
I know the truth Can’t find yourself lost in your lie. There were days when Raven would avoid the lounge all together. Then there were days where she showed up just to make her presence know, especially if there was a gathering of Slytherins. Give them a good show right? It was all about appearance. If only they knew how she felt. They would see that she wasn't some Slytherin Princess, but just another confused, scared child so worried about everything else. No one could know right? Who would really understand anyway. Most pure bloods raised in a family like hers didn't stray from the family ideals. Not many were to be the next heads and completely disagree with everything they were taught. She would be a traitor.
Today was different. It was late and most were in their dorms already. The room was empty. It was nice to just relax for once. No fake smiles or trying to impress. Just her and Onyx. "Let's see how long this will last" Raven hissed to the snake with no reply.

“A’ight, I’ll catch you guys later!”
Rafael departed from the group of hufflepuff students as he made his way into the corridor for the student lounge. There had to be someone that Rafael could have a meaningful conversation with, but the time of year made his craving for deep talks hard to satisfy. Life was bizarre around finals month. For a start, there always seems to be some sort of air around everyone during the occasion – stale. Yeah, that’s it. As much as it was fun startling people deeply concentrated on their studies, pranks can only go so far until they lose their allure – mostly the twelfth time. Definitely one of the worst times of the year to be at Hogwarts. By far.
As Rafael made his way through the hall, he couldn’t help but imagine what life would be life in a muggle school. What exactly was there to do during passing times? If it was anything like a Hogwarts without the magic, literally, then it would be horrifyingly boring. He could only imagine the idea of a ball being thrown around without flying brooms or hallways that weren’t inhabited by wandering ghosts. Must investigate later. Granted, they probably don’t require mandatory uniforms every day. Hogwarts. Two. Normal schools. One.
It didn’t take Rafael much longer to arrive at the entrance into the student lounge. I have a brilliant idea, he thought as he turned the corner into the room with a smile widening across his face. “Oi, you all better be studying rigorously in here! Without! Exceptions!” Rafael said in a Brooklyn accent, largely different from his normal British one. Upon fully entering, however, he immediately realized the errors of his ways. What were the odds that the only person in the room was one of Slytherin prefects, Ravenna Gaunt?
“Oh, sorry. Bad timing.” Rafael said as calmly as he possibly could. Trying to recover as quickly as possible from his misstep into embarrassment, his eyes scanned the room for a saving grace. Chair? No. Carpet? Please. Snake? Okay, now that is sort of interesting. “Nice snake.” God, get me out of here.

Without the mask where will you hide
I know the truth Can’t find yourself lost in your lie. Sure the exam months were always crazy at the school. Most were studding and cramming, making the atmosphere tense to say the least. She really hated this time of the year. It was just more pressure. Not only was she expected to excel in all her exams but also she had to keep up her appearance. She couldn't break down and freak out like everyone. She had to stay calm and collected. Make it look like you have everything under control, even if you are crashing inside. Cool, calm and collected. She had been trough the motions so much it was almost effortless on a normal day. The exams though always reminded her of how much like everyone else she was and how little freedom she really had.
She was happy for the silence of the room. She could talk with her best friend and people not ask her any questions. It was the only time she felt she could be herself. Sure maybe it was strange that her best friend was a snake. But for as long as she could remember snakes were the only ones she could talk freely to. At home she could say whatever she wanted to a snake and her parents only looked at her with pride. No one seemed to understand the hissing. Onyx always understood and she could be herself. Why couldn't she be that way around warm blooded people?
Her thoughts were interrupted by an obnoxious student trying to make an entrance. It was Rafael Diaz, a Gryffindor clown. She didn't really know him too well, except he was the same year as she and in many of her classes. She was sitting at the far wall in the room that looked out one of the windows. Onyx was curled up on the table soaking up the warmth from last rays of the sun. She rolled her eyes at the Gryffindor wondering if she should reply.
Bad timing was right. Just when she thought she could relax in came one of the last people she would want any interaction with. "I guess it appears I am not the only one appearing to not freak out about the exams. Thought I do believe there are opposite outlooks of these things" Raven hissed to Onyx. The snake responded in more of a laughter, the strange hissing that was the snakes laughter."Better companion than most" Her voice was cold. She flipped her hair from her face gracefully with her hand and looked over to the Gryffindor. "Shouldn't a slacker like you be studding. Though if you failed it wouldn't bother me" She was curious about what he would say, she was also hoping he was going to leave.

Rafael raised his eyebrows. Better companion than most. Sure as hell would seem like it, given that attitude and all. A simple dark thought, but that was all it was ever going to be – hopefully. It was a good lesson that he had learned from his time back ‘home’, holding his own tongue. As long as Rafael didn’t lose his composure, problems could and would be avoided. Unfortunately, those times were rare. And this conversation didn’t seem to be one of those calm, cool, and collected type of discussions. “Good to know.”
The boy smirked the slightest bit when Raven mentioned how his ‘slacker’ tendencies were going to be the end of him. He definitely wasn’t going to fail, that much was for sure. There was a good reason why he never found himself near the bottom of the class every year. In fact, he had a very legitimate system after his first year at Hogwarts. Rafael always made sure to be at least the average student – just enough to keep his parents off of his case every time summer rolled around. It was the overachievers’ job to compete for the top. His goal was to have fun. Although, some extra studying was in order – but she didn’t have to know. “Not all students are as dumb as you think, princess.” Rafael decided to play along with her remark. “But judging from your confidence and well, you being here – I assume you already have everything memorized.”
Making his way further into the room, Rafael searched for the perfect chair for the occasion. This was going to be a rough one. “But you’re right, it shouldn’t bother you if I failed.” He grabbed an isolated chair, swinging it around to face the Sytherin before promptly sitting down. Rafael gave Raven a challenging look with a slight smile. “Let me ask you a question. In the glory of all your wisdom and grace, why even bother asking?”
It was a weird feeling, being absorbed into a conversation that probably shouldn’t have even mattered. But it just felt right, this exchanging of words at least. It was a special talent of his, being amused by even the most seemingly tedious of activities. If nothing else, it kept him interested. Somehow, somewhere, a bell had rung signaling for the show to begin.

Without the mask where will you hide
I know the truth Can’t find yourself lost in your lie. Princess, the nerve. Granted she was called a Slytherin Princess multiple times by her own house mates. However, it was a more endearing phrase. As if to say she was a true Slytherin and considered royalty in some cases. The way this Gryffindor was using it was most likely to rial her nerves. Certainly not endearing. As far as having everything memorized, it was true but she wasn't about to tell him how hard she had studied and had more than a few late nights getting the work done as well as not letting anyone else know she was nervous and worried about the exams. She just shrugged in response "It certainly wasn't difficult and I won't loose any sleep over the exams" Raven almost believed her own lie with how convincing and calm her voice was. .
More snark comments. Maybe he was being sincere but she wasn't convinced. But he did have a good question. Why bother asking? Well to be honest she just wanted to get a reaction. She wanted to see what this person, someone who doesn't try to overachieve in class, or who didn't have to. She would have loved to slack off sometimes but her parents would kill her or worse pull her out and send her to the school her sister was at. That would defiantly be the worst fate. It was bade enough having to be there over the summer, she couldn't deal with it all year. "Maybe I just wanted to rail up some response. See if there is anything intelligent in that little head of yours" Maybe she had gone too far with the last part of her comment. She wasn't going to take it back. Maybe she was being so harsh on him because he could do what she would love to be able to get away with. He had freedom. Sure she didn't know his home life or much about him. From what she saw he could be himself. Something she could never do.
There were times when she thought about just coming clean and becoming that traitor to the family and to pure bloods. She just wasn't brave enough to do so at that point. Also she wanted to do so when she was in control of the family, maybe there was a slim chance she could change the minds of the others if she was in a position of power. But then she would give up ever being herself around others. Granted that is how it was now. Maybe things would change.

Well, that makes at least one of us, He thought to himself – grimacing at his lack of preparation for exams. But he had to give it to the girl, she did seem awfully confident that acing the finals would be a cake walk. There was a certain amount of respect that he had to affiliate with her for the talent to be irritatingly and incredibly responsible.
Maybe that could’ve been him – unfriendly, hostile, somewhat sassy, and alone – if his sister never existed. In fact, Rafael couldn’t help but think that his life would’ve been worse without her presence. He remembered one time trying to please his parents to a point where he had refused to use his breaks to play outside to instead find more time to study. Ironically, the boy only did so in hopes of gaining more privileges like increased playing time. Outside. What was going on during those times? I was such a stupid doofus. Luckily enough, his sister helped snap the common sense back into him during those years or else he would’ve continued to be a workhorse for the rest of his life. Regardless, the idea was unsettling. He couldn’t imagine being so uptight all the time, but then he’d probably wear a suit twenty-four seven – suits always did bring out his eyes. The point being, the thought of it creeped him out.
Rafael chuckled, this girl definitely could spit out some fire. The ‘little head’ part did hurt him though. Okay, a little more than ‘hurt’. It scratched his ego and he just wasn’t going to let her get away with that. “I admire your effort, princess. Not only do you confuse me with someone who cares what you think, you’re really judgy as well.” he stated to her, taking a quick pause to once again gather his thoughts. “You know, it really makes me wonder what you had to have gone through to turn out this way!” his voice shook as he said. His demeanor had slightly changed – in an erratic sort of way. Maybe it was because of the nerves, but he felt like he wanted to spill all of it out.
After digesting what he had just said, however, Rafael was slowly washed over with shame. What the hell was he even saying at this point? In fact, what was he? An adult? Could he somehow subconsciously want to sound like the biggest idiot ever? This played out a lot differently in my mind.

Without the mask where will you hide
I know the truth Can’t find yourself lost in your lie. For Raven it was easier to insult, give a sly comment or act nonchalant during a conversation than it was to show her true face, or even part of it. How could she let anyone in or drop her guard? That was weakness and she couldn't afford to show any weakness. Part of her wasn't going to be beaten down due to trivial means but she had put up the front for so long it was just second nature. She had her family to thank for that.
She secretly dreaded going home. She had to have a good reason for every imperfection during the year and then she had to compete with her siblings to prove who had the better year. She had to always stay on top or else be labeled as a disgrace then she would just end up spending the whole summer on lock down. She had to do that once and vowed to never have to endure that torture again. Punishments were very ruthless in the Gaunt household. Granted they had hundreds of years of traditions to uphold. What really messed with her head was that if she was the best her siblings were never punished in the same manor. They were scolded sure but nothing like what she had to go through.
Why should she care what he thought. His opinions didn't matter. He was just a Gryffindor punk like that Taze fellow. She shouldn't care but part of her did. Part of her wanted to tell someone, to stop keeping everything bottled in ready to burst. She hated the feeling and yet here she was, unsure of what to say.
She had to respond right? Silence in some cases was a good enough come back but in a situation like this silence was the worst. If she stayed silent he would have won. She couldn't let this Gryffindor goof get the best of her. She would never hear the end of it. "I am obviously not the one confused here. I just call things as they are. As they are in this case most apparent" Raven needed to flip the conversation. She couldn't risk falling apart after so many years of holding her own. How could one conversation make her feel the need to explain everything? She didn't need to explain herself.
"Perhaps it is not my upbringing that needs to be brought into question. Open any history book and you will find information about my family. It does make one wonder what type of upbringing would make one so carefree?" Maybe by turning the conversation to focus of the Gryffindor she could feel a little more at ease.

Rafael hated this. How did he even get into this situation? In a battle against the snootiest of ‘princesses’ – swords raised and battalions ready. And here he was, subject to all that she had to say. It wasn’t even playful banter! He felt the venom behind the insult – and it made him want to return it. “Are you sure about that, Ms. Know-It-All? Because obviously, you know me better than myself, right?” Bits and pieces of frustration filled his tone, shaping his dictation to make it sharper and distinct. He almost forgot where he was at a point, avoiding a commotion was the last thing on his mind.
Honestly, how did anyone see her as a princess? Thoughts racing, Rafael felt his hands clench onto the seat. He couldn’t tell what Raven had wanted out of him. Did she want him to leave? Or was he just the next enemy she wanted to make? He despised getting into the face of people during a conversation, but she made it impossible not to. How could she confidently analyze people as if they were mere books? A paper waiting to be graded?
And there she was, gloating over the significance of her family – could it be worse? “You misunderstand, I’m not talking about your family, I’m talking about you. Just you. And sorry to burst your bubble, but last time I checked, there wasn’t an autobiography written just for you.” He couldn’t chill at this point, there was no ‘happy-go-lucky’ Rafael, not at this moment. Somehow, Raven Gaunt flipped his switch – she pushed the right buttons. His realization of it made him all the more frustrated. He couldn’t believe that she played him like a puppet.
A deep breath – that was all that he needed to gather his thoughts. She wanted a story? He’ll give her one, the truth. She probably wouldn’t believe him anyway. “Since you asked, a horrible one. An upbringing by purebloods like you that made me feel disgusting – out of place. I didn’t belong, so you know what I did?” Why was he doing this to himself? This just wasn’t him, reopening an old wound. This wasn’t Rafael. “I ran for the hills, but they’re still there. And I’m still weak. And it makes me want to vomit.” His voice raised without him realizing it, but by the time he did recognize how caught up he was into the conversation, he had already finished. All he heard was his voice fading away into the silence of the student lounge. For the first time in a while, Rafael felt hopeless.

Without the mask where will you hide
I know the truth Can’t find yourself lost in your lie. Raven watched as the Gryffindor became more and more flustered with the conversation. She knew she had a way of getting people angry. The more people yelled the easier it was for her to resist. She was used to yelling, she could handle anger. It was people being kind or being like her, able to slither their way around conversations that could break her. So when he snapped at her she was glad. She was the product of her family. That's all there was to it.
She never did expect him to tell her. Raven might have expected him accusing her more or yelling, but never did she expect Rafael to tell her. His words struck a chord in her that she had never felt before. He was like her. That couldn't be right? How was he so happy all the time? She had to pretend, to fake everything. She had no real friends and was still scared. What made this boy so special that he didn't have to hide. It angered her but not exactly because of who he was but the fact that he did what she only dreamed of doing. He ran from it.
There was silence in the room. Raven didn't know what to say. She was still taken aback by what had transpired. She wanted to tell him, why she wanted to tell him she wasn't sure. Maybe she just needed to get it off her chest or maybe it hurt for someone to be so angry with her. Sure there were some Gryffindors that were irritated by here but this was worse. Normally she wouldn't care but it hurt too much now. The chord was struck.
She bit her lip and turned her head slightly so her gaze was directed at the window. She knew that if she looked at Rafael when she spoke she wouldn't be able to hold it all in. "God I envy you. Not what you were expecting right?" Raven chuckled slightly but it wasn't a happy chuckle. It was helping keep the tears from flowing though.
"I wish I could run. To get away from the pressure. From the twisted philosophies, the punishments, all of it. I hate all of them so much yet I cant get away. I have to keep up with this facade and it kills me. You think your weak. Then I must be pathetic" Everything was now out in the open. Raven was so glad no one else was around. That statement would be the end of it all for her if someone else had heard. Well it could be the end now. She just had to see what he was going to do with it. She turned to look at him, her eyes hurt and her face solemn.

In the silence Rafael heard the voice of Raven. He struggled to keep it all down – he felt the lump build up in his throat. God, what a scene this was. He was supposed to be happy at Hogwarts, there wasn’t supposed to be anything that hurt him here. But he was on the verge of breaking now – and he realized how much of a coward he really was. It was always there – the truth – and he always knew about it. But somehow it was glazed over, he just needed to say it out loud to realize that. Rafael Ari Diaz ran from the truth.
Why would anyone envy someone like me? He felt like a failure. He lowered his head in shame. He had nothing to call his own and that made reality all the more saddening. Life has been just fun and games for him and pride was all he had. He remembered all the times his sister helped him – like an angel out of a fairy tale, she always found the way. Sure, there were moments when he had tried to be like her. Rafael tried to be strong, confident, and determined. But when it all came down to it, he ran. He couldn’t help but laugh. Those days seemed like ages ago.
Every bone in Rafael screamed to him that Raven was lying. She was the one that made him this angry, sad. Depressed. She triggered this. She made him feel this way. But the funny thing was, Rafael wanted to believe her. He felt desperate and alone. It was as if he was a little child all over again. He tilted his head towards her, staring at the girl with a melancholic look.
It took him a lot of strength. He felt as if his insides were burning, but he couldn’t think to not say it. He needed someone right now, and she was all that he had. “Tell me…” A pregnant pause. He could’ve sworn his voice cracked. “Tell me more.” It was soft, quiet. His breathing slowed as he looked on. He tried to remember a tale he had read from a muggle book once. It talked about an ugly duckling of sorts – different from the rest. Maybe that was him. The ugly duckling.
“Please, tell me more.”

Without the mask where will you hide
I know the truth Can’t find yourself lost in your lie. The entire air about the room changed drastically. Tell more? She wasn't sure she could. She had never told anyone how she really felt or what she went through. She looked to Onyx for some help. She was lost. Go on, tell him. I am just a snake and this is something you need, and it seems like he needs it as well Onyx hissed at her before slithering up to rest around her neck. He was still a young snake so he only reached the tips of her fingers to the other side of her neck stretched out. When Onyx was settled Raven faced Rafael doing everything she could to not burst into tears.
She took a deep breath wondering where to begin. "When I was little my parents held a strong resentment towards me. They fully believed that I was a Squib because I wasn't showing any signs of magic, well at the time at least that they knew of. After my siblings were born when I was three I was all but abandoned. The only kindness and caring I every received was from snakes. Useless Squib, Damned Squib. Worthless excused for a Gaunt. It just got worse when my siblings showed signs of magic a three" Raven paused for a moment trying to keep in the tears. She didn't want to crack and not finish. Onyx was right, she needed to tell someone. She needed this more than anything. And if the only person in the world who knew about it was this Gryffindor, she was fine with it.
"So my parents were going to wait till I was seven before completely locking me away. One night, I was six, my mother caught me outside. She started yelling then realized that I was talking with a couple of garden snakes. I was rushed inside and had to explain that I had been talking to then since I could talk. That is when everything changed. I was put through a rigorous and intense training regiment. Any mistake, no matter how small was met with swift and severe punishment. Just looking the wrong way or smiling at the wrong time was a cause for punishment. I had to be perfect because I was the heir" Everything she said was painful. She never realized how much she hated her two faced family till she said it out loud. Raven wondered if she should continue. Sure there was more but was she ready to tell someone everything. She looked at Rafael. She saw the pain in his eyes and it was like her own. Holding back her pride she continued.
"I wanted to believe everything they had taught me at first, it was all I knew. But the snakes told me another story. So I went on pretending, being exactly what they wanted. I convinced them to let me come here mainly so I wouldn't go to the same school as my siblings. And yet I still pretend. Still do everything they want because at the end of the day I still have to return" She wiped the tears forming at the corner of her eyes. She wondered if Rafael was going to believe her tale. She knew that she could trick some people but she was telling the truth. And it hurt, it hurt more than she realized. She was weak, she couldn't escape their grasp. There were times when she wished they hadn't found out. Maybe being a Squib would have been better. She could have left and no one would have cared.

“I…” Rafael turned his head the other way in astonishment. “I’m sorry.” His apology was tender, yet his voice was lost in the deep expanse of the room. Even if it was a leap of faith, he took it. Rafael believed her story. Rafael believed Raven. Somehow, the student lounge felt larger than it usually was. She’s similar. And no matter how much he knew it was wrong – the boy felt relief. There was someone in this world that he could relate to. Yeah, his relief was an incredibly selfish and terrible thing to be grateful about, but what could he do? Continue gazing upon the stars in hopes that the problem would solve itself?
He cleared his throat. The atmosphere of the room seemed to have settled down – no longer was the ambience filled with contempt or anger. It was mellow – at least, for Rafael.
“It was the same for me, too.” It was only fair at this point. “Growing up with the expectations of being the one to take over a wealthy, pureblood family at least.” His hands moved glided to his sunken head, clasping to form a ball in front of him. “I remember there was one day when I wanted to go outside. And I mean, really wanted to go outside. So much that I escaped my studies one day to play. I thought maybe I could’ve gotten away with the act. And it was fun, running around in the grass – actually being out there, instead of wishing that I was.” A slight smile formed on his face and he stared into the ground with nostalgia. How silly of him, revisiting the past that he disliked so much. But he had to admit, there were a lot of moments that he wouldn’t give up for anything.
“I didn’t care if it was against my parents’ orders. Well – actually, I did. It took me weeks to muster up that courage.” He huffed a small laugh. How strange, young Rafael was actually quite cute. “I think I played for a few good hours – certainly felt like it. But then, I remembered them finding me and…” Rafael paused – his mouth closed shut. It was certainly vivid in his mind, but he couldn’t bring himself to say it. He flinched at the thought of it. “The rest wasn’t pretty.”
And once again, there was silence in the room. It all felt really bizarre, this moment. This place. This talk. But Rafael appreciated it – it was a lot off his chest. Taking a sizable breath, he felt like he was under control again. No longer was there a storm of emotions rattling on the inside, only the calm remained. “Look at us.” The boy chuckled as he looked up now with a renewed strength. “Talkin’ about our life and being all depressed an’ everything.” Another sigh, but this one felt different. It was uplifting. He offered a sympathetic smile. “What are we going to do with ourselves?”

Without the mask where will you hide
I know the truth Can’t find yourself lost in your lie. The Slytherin listened to Rafael's tale. As much as she didn't want to feel a tinge of relief about the situation she did. Sure there were plenty at the school with family issues but from what she knew of the Slytherins she hung out with almost all of them followed their family beliefs. Believed them even. Always trying to please and honor the family. But being able to tell someone exactly what she felt and them be the same way about their family it was a welcoming feeling. Never in a million years would she have predicted such a conversation would occur, and certainly not with Rafael.
She couldn't help but laugh when he made the comment about the depressing conversation. "Yeah, you got that right...I hate to admit it but I am kind of happy about it. It is nice to be able to tell someone and they understand. No judging, no shaming. Just mutual understanding" Raven hoped she wasn't crossing the line but it was how she felt. And right now she didn't feel any need to not be honest.
What were they going to do? She hadn't thought about it. What could be done? "Go on like before I guess. We can't change what happened. We just have to move on, at least now we know we are not alone" Even though she wanted everything to change. She wanted it to go away but knew that wasn't realistic. But even if things could change completely now she didn't feel as bad. If anything she had a better look on things.
"But maybe it won't be so bad now. Even if we are still dealing with all this family crap it is nice to know that I'm not alone. Just knowing that makes the outlook seem brighter" She was being overly positive and it felt strange. She was so used to looking down on others. Sure it was all a lie, a simple persona. But now she could move forward. She didn't have such a huge burden on her chest. Granted she didn't know if she could trust Rafael to keep everything she had just said to himself. That little voice in her head told her otherwise. Maybe she finally found someone to confide in.

Rafael tilted his head as he listened to Raven. It was as if he was talking to an entirely different person than the one he had met when he had entered. She seemed happier – and that made all the more difference for him. And she was right, their talk had been a positive outlet for his frustration. All the turbulence in his life was still there, but the storm had been lessened – a nice change of pace. “Tell me about it.” Somehow talking to the Slytherin reminded him of the times that his sister had come to comfort him. It was rare for him – finding a deep connection between someone else besides his own sibling, that is. Mostly it was just fun and games when Rafael was with his friends, but this relationship felt different. He felt as if they could just talk for hours on end with still more to say – which sounded perfectly fine for him.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right.” His voice trailed off as Rafael turned his head to stare at the exit. Time was ruthless. Regardless of it being finals week, or even the school year almost ending there was absolutely nothing stopping the clock. No magic in the world could stop it – which made moments like these all the more treasured. The most surprising occasions were always more impactful because it simply wasn’t expected. Despite his age, the whole thought of it made Rafael feel old.
His attention snapped back to her as she started to talk once more. “Of course it won’t be as bad now.” He gave her a reassuring look. “You got yourself one more friend.” Rafael chuckled at his own cheesiness. It wasn’t something he’d normally say – but this whole situation wasn’t normal by any means as well. Only a few moments ago they were both fighting, yet now he couldn’t conjure all the anger he had felt. “And that means I have your back if you’re in a pickle. I promise.”

Without the mask where will you hide
I know the truth Can’t find yourself lost in your lie. He was right Of course it won’t be as bad now. Now there was someone else, a real friend. Raven only had one of those and it was a snake. Sure Lyric and her were closeish. She never did tell Lyric about her family and had no intention to do so. She didn't want to ruin their rivalry. What she had now with Rafael wasn't a rivalry, it was understanding. It was true friendship at the rawest form and she was overly happy for it.
He would have her back. It wasn't a concept that she knew too well. Most had their own back but she never had someone so willing to have hers without expecting to gain anything from it. Slytherins wanted to be her friend because of her family. It looked good to the family to be her friend. Sure Rafael was a pure blood but he didn't expect anything from her. She was glad, glad she could be herself even if the moment she left the room she would have to go back to the way things were. He gave her a reassuring look. "Friendship goes two ways. If you every need anything feel free to ask" Raven was sincere and looking forward to see where this new friendship was going to go.
She found the whole situation quite funny looking back on it before. Just moments ago they were fighting. Then it turned into an extremely depressing conversation where it seemed like both parties were going to burst into tears. Now she felt happier than she had in well ever and had a real friend to boot. All in just under an hour. It was strange how very little time had gone by but it seemed like forever ago they were fighting. Raven smiled. A real smile, soft, warm and happy.
"Not to ruin the mood or anything, but you are the last person I would have ever expected to become friends with. I am very happy about it though. I do have to wonder how we go about this. Reputations and all" She chucked. She was somewhat serious but if some of her reputation had to suffer for her to have a real friend she was willing to do so. Which was a surprising thought because her reputation was all she had.
